Oh well. So here are somethings that I've been working on to try and overcome this block. First we have the whole Bayou Gang! Accordion Bear, Trumpet Muskrat, aaaaaaand Banjo Rat!!! Whooo! Rockin out! Clearly not finished yet, just the flat colors. I'm thinking there will be a bunch of fireworks in the background, I'm excited. I hope it turns out well.
I listen to a lot of music when I draw these guys, and my inspiration has been Mumford and Sons and Freelance Whales. Love them both, but Freelance Whales has an accordion and a banjo, way cool.
The other piece I have is the continuation of the pirate piece I was working on. It's going well, and I think it'll be really pretty....if I ever finish it. Doing those ropes is going to take forever!
I love the colors of the ocean and sky. I really want it to be finished, just don't know if it'll happen :(
If anyone has any tips for getting over art block, I'd greatly appreciate them.
These look amazing. I'm in art class right now and I wish I was half as good as you. I really admire people who can draw and call themselves artists now since I realized that I am not very talented in that area at all!
ReplyDeleteI have no tips for getting over art block - sorry. I wonder though if you ever get so inspired by a particular piece that you want to explore the world you've just created further. I mean, have you ever made a second piece based on the characters and setting of a previous work? That color sketch of the sailor on the ship, for instance. Who is he? What's his story? What world does he live in? the piece really intrigues me; it's gorgeous and all, but the moment I saw it, I was asking myself those questions? Have you ever felt so inspired by your own work that you create a whole world based on what you've made?
